Police nab two suspected armed robber

Accra, Dec. 9, GNA - Two of the most wanted suspected armed robbers on the Police list were arrested at the hideout at Chokor in Accra on Thursday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Douglas Akrofi-Asiedu; Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, announced on Friday. He said those arrested were Razak, 19 and Wiper, 32, whose names appeared on the list of the 10 most wanted criminals. The Police had put a bounty on them promising any one who gave information leading to their arrest handsome monetary reward and any Police Officer, who assisted in arresting them special awards.

ACP Akrofi-Asiedu said the Police had arrested a number of suspects the majority of whom were between the ages of 18 years and 26 years and were involved in acts such as residential, highway and workplace robbery and car snatching.

The Regional Commander, said the Police most times had difficulties to locate houses and streets because they were not properly numbered, making it difficult to assist victims during emergencies. He said there was no need for panic this Christmas, since the Inspector General of Police had ordered for more patrol teams to make the occasion safer for all.

He congratulated the Police Patrol teams especially the Joint Military teams for their hard work and appealed to the general public to provide information to the Police on any suspect. Mr Akrofi-Asiedu gave the assurance that the Police would not only keep their identity confidential but would also reward all local informants.

He said all Areeba subscribers should call 191 for Police Patrol Teams in case of any attack.
