Police nab filling station robbers

Three suspected armed robbers namely; Isaac Appah 26, Solomon Annor Yeboah, 24, and Micheal Asante ,29, have been arrested by the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command for their roles in a robbery attack on some filling stations in the area.

The suspects were arrested on Monday dawn at about 2am by the Nkawkaw highway patrol team at Akim Sekyere along the Accra- Kumasi road in the Kwahu west municipality of the Eastern region.

The six-member gang wielding machetes and a pistol attacked two filling station attendants, Issifu Musah, 37 and Mohammed Haidara, 38, and managed to rob them of huge sums of money and some quantities of diesel.

Three of the robbers managed to escape while the other three were arrested and being processed for court, according to the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Sarfo Peprah.

He said upon interrogation it was revealed that two of the robbers are taxi drivers at Nkawkaw who normally go to the fuel filling station to buy fuel while the other accomplice is a carpenter.

Chief Superintendent Peprah added that Police patrol and intelligence gathering in the area have been intensified to help weed out criminals. He, however, appealed to the public to collaborate with the police to provide tip-off and timely information to help arrest the suspected criminals.
