Police intercept ammunitions bound for Bunkpurugu

Tamale, May 9, GNA - The Northern Regional Police Command, on Saturday intercepted a Kumasi-Bunkpurugu bound

bus at Fufulso barrier, carrying 250 pieces of cartridges meant to fuel conflicts at Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District. Three persons suspected to be the owners and identified as Jacob Kolan 39, Goori Duut, 30, Seidu Larri, 25 and the

driver Ibrahim Abdala, 35 have been arrested. The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh told the Ghana News Agency

that the police received intelligence information that the 60-seater vehicle was carrying ammunitions. He said when the vehicle got to Fulfuso barrier at about 0400 hours, it was impounded by the police personnel after

a search unveiled the ammunitions. Chief Inspector Tetteh said the four persons are being investigated and would be put before court if found culpable. He warned drivers and people who have the intention to import weapons to any part of the North to desist from

such acts because their activities would not elude the widely awake police.
