The Central Regional Police Command has issued a situational report on how two university students who were contestants of this year’s “Face of University Students Association USAG” died through drowning in the sea.

According to the report sighted by MyNewsGh.com, the deceased persons were among 16 University Students who went to Oasis beach near Cape Coast Castle for a fun and photo shoot.

The police reveal that a strong tidal wind suddenly carried Lilian Ampofowaah Asiedu University of Ghana City Campus, Sarah Kwarteng University of Winneba – Mampong Campus, Akaeme Faustina Kings University College Kasoa, Sharon Ayebadonye Methodist University Dansoman Accra and Frank Boateng Garden City University Kumasi away.

Divers managed to rescue all the victims apart from Sarah Kwarteng and were rushed to University of Cape Coast (UCC) Hospital but Lilian Ampofowaah Asiedu was pronounced dead on arrival.

Akaeme Faustina, Sharon Ayebadonye and Frank Boateng are on admission at same Hospital responding to treatment while the body of Sarah Kwarteng is yet to be recovered.

The body of deceased Lilian Ampofowaah Asiedu has been deposited at same Hospital Mortuary pending further investigation.

According to the police preliminary enquiry revealed that on August 15, 2018, the University of Cape Coast hosted students from other Universities in Ghana for the Annual Conference of University Students Association of Ghana “USAG” .

The Victims went to the beach as part of the programme when the incident occurred.
