Security Analyst Adam Bona has called on the Inspector General of Police to interdict the suspected police officers who are alleged to have butchered a bus driver at Adomfe in the Ashanti region.

Nine policemen in the Ashanti region allegedly beat and butchered a 33-year-old driver Tuesday evening, causing his death shortly after.

According to Mr. Bona the culprits should be interdicted before the polices’ internal inquiry services take over.

Speaking to Starr News’ Atiewin Mbilla Lawson on Starr Today Wednesday he said “one other thing I’m expecting from this incident is as the current IGP would usually do is to interdict these rogue police officers who are suspected to have misconducted themselves before they are put through their own internal service inquiry processes and if they are found guilty I believe that they should be severely punished.”

He added “we are beginning to see heavily highhandedly the police when it comes to dealing with citizens. And this particular incident points to another gory incident by police officers who have gone without informing anybody for themselves.”

Background

residents told Starr News that about seven police officers with three in uniform stormed the area for an operation and had an altercation with the deceased, restrained him to the ground, kicked and punched him in the face before some of the officers started butchering him with a machete.

Recounting the incident to Starr News, Assembly Man for the area Samuel Kofi Boadu said the policemen who were on patrol searched for one Mr Kamkam and another Yaa Yaa who live in the area.

He said since they did not find these individuals, they ransacked their homes and did not find anything as well.
