Police arrests four suspects in Nkwanfinfini-Betimko robbery

The Nkawie Division of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, has arrested four suspects in connection with the Nkwanfinifin- Betinko highway robbery attack, which left one woman dead and four others seriously injured.

This happened on September 22, between the Nkawie and Nyinahin stretch of the Kumasi-Bibiani highway, when the gang of robbers whose number was not given, in a robbery spree shot through some commercial vehicles and seized cash and valuables.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Felix Fosu-Agyemang, Nkawie Divisional Commander said, the suspects, from 30-35 years, were arrested the next day after the incident upon police intelligence and had since been kept in custody pending investigations.

He said the robbers suspected some of the passengers had gold on them.

The Divisional Commander assured the public that the police have made moves arrest the miscreants and make life comfortable for peace-loving citizens who have decided to live within the law.

ACP Fosu –Agyemang said this would be done through erecting more snap-checks points on all roads to increase police visibility in the area, and search for offensive weapons.

More neighbourhood watch committees would also be formed to help boost security in the area.

He called on the public to volunteer information which would lead to the arrest of the criminals while calling on them to be security conscious.
