The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with unlawful impersonation of a soldier.
Briefing journalists in Accra on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of the CID, described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in efforts to tackle high-profile criminal activities.
According to her, the suspect had been operating in Ashalaja in the Greater Accra Region, in the Ashanti Region, Bekwai, and Kyebi in the Eastern Region, while posing as a military officer.
“The suspect was found dressed in full military camouflage attire at the time of arrest,” she stated.

A search of the suspect uncovered two unregistered foreign pistols, one live 9mm round, two live AK-47 rounds, a military camouflage bag, a bayonet, a Huawei Gota set, and a pair of handcuffs with serial number 46446.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect used the military impersonation to facilitate criminal activities and intimidate members of the public.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue to identify accomplices and the sources of the weapons.
