Police arrest rapist robber

The police have arrested one person in connection with the raping of a 21-year-old woman during a robbery operation at Diechemso in Kumasi last Sunday.

The suspect was identified as Dennis Boamah, a 22-year-old unemployed man resident at CPC in Kumasi.

He and his unidentified accomplice were alleged to have attacked the young lady and her boyfriend near the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) building at Dichemso while the victims were returning to their hotel room after their failed attempt to watch the boxing bout between Mayweather and Manny Pacquio.

A police source said the incident happened about 200 metres away from the Hafia Hotel during which the suspect and his accomplice disposed the duo of their phones, wrist watch and GH?75 cash at knife point.

While holding on to the weapon, the suspects dragged the 21-year-old lady to the MDCC premises and raped her in turns, the source added.

The male victim, on the following day, spotted Dennis Boamah and caused his arrest, and he was later identified by the lady during an identification parade conducted by the Manhyia Divisional Police Command.

Police recovered torn beads of the lady from the scene of crime upon a visit, DAILY GUIDE gathered.

Dennis Boamah has since been sent to the legal and prosecution unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command for further action, as his sister insists on the suspect’s innocence.
