Police arrest 41 alleged criminals in Kumasi

Kumasi, June 17, GNA - The Asawase Police in

Kumasi last Saturday rounded up 41 suspected criminals in a

swoop as part of measures to rid the metropolis of criminals. This followed a directive from the Regional Command

to all police districts and divisions to embark on regular swoops

as a means of managing crime in their areas of jurisdiction. The exercise was carried out at Suame Magazine Base,

French Line and Aboabo among others which are noted for drug

peddling and other criminal activities. The suspects included John Berchie, 21, Maxwell

Chipsah, 19, Kofi Kalle, 36, Boakye Emmanuel, 29, Kwabena

Anokye, 24. Others were Yaw Afrifa, 28, Abdul Samed, 21, Issa

Abu, 20, Kwame Acquah 22, Amidu Sulemana, 24. A quantity of some whitish substance suspected to be

cocaine, dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, machetes,

knives, scissors, crow bars and 41 mobile phones were retrieved

from them. The Regional Police on Tuesday organized an

identification parade at the Central Police Station to afford victims

the opportunity to identify their assailants. In another development the Buffallo Unit on June 15

arrested Ibrahim Asiedu Ampem, 37, Mohhammed Bronzy, 40

and Abukari Amidu, 25, suspected to be armed robbers at

Anhwia Nkwanta when the police had information that they were

moving to Dunkwa-On-Offin to commit robbery. Items found on them during a search were two locally

manufactured pistols, eight cartridges, two machetes and two

mobile phones.
