A joint security operation involving the Bono Regional Police Command, the 3rd Infantry Battalion (3BN), and the Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI) has led to the recovery of eight assorted weapons and the arrest of 24 suspects in Sampa
The operation, which took place on March 21, 2026, was part of ongoing efforts by regional security agencies to rid the area of illegal weapons and criminal elements.
This was contained in a statement issued by the police on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
“The exercise led to the recovery of the following exhibits: five pump action guns, one (1) baikal gun, two (2) locally made guns, 790 rounds of AAA&BB Cartridges, one (1) pouch, seven (7) pairs of black boots and desert boots, six whiskers, 21 machetes, four (4) bayonets, five (5) clubs, two (2) foreign military jackets, two (2) body amours-one without a metal plate, one AK 47 ammunition, six (6) assorted keypad phones, 12 assorted smart phones, one official stamp marked "Nana Samgba Gyafla II President Sampa Traditional Council', eight (8) assorted motorbikes, one pair of pliers, one chisel, six (6) knives, one torchlight, one Ripshaw and a quantity of talismans," it stated.

According to the police, the suspects, whose ages range from 13 to 78 are currently in custody.
“The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting the investigation, and efforts are underway to prepare them to face prosecution," the statement added.
The police further urged the public to continue to assist the police with credible information that can lead to the arrest of suspects in possession of unlawful weapons.
