Police at Dansoman have arrested a woman for allegedly stealing a newborn at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region.
According to multiple reports, the infant has been rescued and reunited with the mother, while investigations into the incident continue.
“The Ghana Police Service at Dansoman has arrested a woman for allegedly stealing a newborn baby at the Mamprobi Polyclinic yesterday. The infant was later rescued and reunited with the mother at the Dansoman Police Station today. Investigations are ongoing,” Edhub reported on X.

According to reports, the suspect allegedly took advantage of a moment when the baby’s mother, who had undergone a caesarean section, was fast asleep after delivery.
The woman is reported to have entered the ward and picked up the baby without drawing attention.

CCTV footage from the hospital premises captured the suspect leaving the facility with the infant wrapped in cloth.
The video, which was circulated on social media, showed a woman calmly walking out of the hospital grounds with the covered baby.
The development sparked outrage within the Mamprobi community, with some residents reportedly rushing to the facility to demand answers from hospital authorities.
