Police Mount Operation To Flush Out Prostitutes

The police administration has begun an operation to clamp down on the increasing rate of prostitution in the Accra Metropolis. The operation comes in the wake of increased practice of one of the oldest trades in the world involving both teenage girls and adults.

There is an influx of prostitutes into the country especially from Liberia and other neighbouring countries. The exercise is therefore to bring the sex trade, which is the major cause for the spread of HIV/AIDS in Ghana under control.

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Dr K.K. Manfo told JOY FM that the operation would this time, be conducted regularly on a sustained basis to flush out all prostitutes from our streets. According to him, a number of arrests including suspected pimps have already been made.
