Police Inspector attacked by armed robber

A police inspector who went to the rescue of a colleague on guard duties at the GCB Bank at Kasoa, has been left with machete wounds after he was attacked by an armed robber.

Inspector Charles Yeboah had his left hand slashed by the 36-year-old suspect Kojo Appiaga, when he tried arresting him.

According to the facts of the case as contained in a police situational report sighted by MyNewsGh.com, the suspect at about 1:30pm on Friday, armed with 2 double edged machetes, went to Ghana Commercial Bank near K.Gyasi stores Kasoa and attacked the duty man, one Sergeant Nkrumah Justice, with the intent to rob the customers.

A reinforcement team from Kasoa Police were called to the scene and in an attempt to arrest him he pulled one of the machete and slashed the left hand of the police inspector, leaving him with a deep cut.

Police fired several gun shots below the knee to disarm the violent suspect but could not hit him. However suspect was subsequently overpowered and arrested to the Police station.

The injured Inspector Charles Yeboah was rushed to Kasoa Polyclinic for treatment and later discharged.
