Police Deflate Gossips

Say IGP Is Still At Post

Investigations Desk Report

Contrary to speculations in the media that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye has been relieved of his post, in-depth investigations conduct by the Informer reveal otherwise.

Credible information picked up by the paper, in the wake of last Thursday night’s news item carried out by a section of the media about the dismissal of the IGP, revealed it as one of the series of ploy to distract Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye from delivering on his promise of reforming the police institution and bringing it to an acceptable standard.

According to the paper’s sources, the detractors of the IGP (name withheld for now), some of whom are hell-bent to take over from him through fair or foul means, have tasked their assigns to do everything possible so as to ensure that the IGP gets frustrated and leaves office before his retirement from the service as prescribed by law.

”In fact, serious plans are being hatched by adverse critics of the IGP to push him out of office”, insiders told The Informer.

“Even though we will not mention the name of the particular officer behind this evil agenda against the IGP, about 95 % of us (personnel) in the service know him. Since day one Mr. Paul Tawiah assumed office as the number man of the service, this dodgy character has made up his mind to frustrate our boss (IGP), but “torfiakwa, he will not succeed”, some angry officers pointed out.

“We will continue to lend our support to the IGP, so that, with God on his side, he can deliver on his good promises of making us happy the more, having proven to be a visionary leader”, the officers added.

However, the Police administration in a press release issued and duly singed by the Director-General in-charge of Administration, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare a day after the said wicked rumour, has debunked the speculations that the IGP has been booted out of office, and has categorically stated, that the IGP is still at post contrary to media gossips. “We want to emphasize that Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye is still at post; he has not been relieved of his duties as Inspector-General of Police as being speculated”. “While debunking this piece of information as false, we wish to state that such attitudes have the potential to create unnecessary tension in the Police Service in particular and in the country as a whole”.

The police administration, however, cautions the media not to create a situation that will disturb the peace of the country, entreating media houses and top personnel to cross-check their information before going public.

In a related development, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye has made changes in the Command structure of the service, with the likes of COP/Ms Rose Bio Atinga , DCOP/Mr. Patrick Timbillah, DCOP/Mr. David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin and DCOP/Mr. Augustine Gyenning , re-assigned to new schedules and regions, respectively.

The Editors Note The Informer is not surprised at all about the hoax that the IGP has been sacked. In fact, we saw it coming, when the IGP left the shores of Ghana weeks ago for some private engagements, following some unfortunate developments that cropped up in his absence.

However, we want to sound a very strong warning to all those who have made up their minds to detract the IGP to stay away or face our wrath.
