Police Command will insist on transfers - IGP

Garu (UER), Nov.10, GNA - Mr Patrick K. Acheampong, Inspector General of Police on Wednesday said the Police Administration would ensure transfers of personnel to the northern part of the country were done effectively and efficiently with laid down police regulations without compromise.

He said the area formed part of the nation, therefore, any police personnel could be sent there to discharge the needed services. "We shall put our feet down and insist that transfers should not be done in preference for a particular locality," He stressed. Mr Acheampong, said this at Garu as part of his Upper East Regional tour.

He noted that some chiefs and opinion leaders had complained about the situation, which was not good for the image of the police. The IGP said to help encourage girl-child education in the northern parts of the country, gender balance would be considered in posting more women police officers to the District.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alhassan, District Police Commander, called for more logistics to help the personnel combat crimes in the area.

He said lack of means of transport affect their operations.
