Police Church marks Good Friday

Accra, March 21, GNA - The Police Church in Accra marked this year's vernal equinox Good Friday with songs and the readings of the seven sayings of Jesus Christ on the cross and short sermons by members. "Father! Forgive them for they know not what they do. Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise. Woman! Behold your son; behold your mother. My God, My God why have you forsaken me? I thirst. It is finished. Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." Summing up the Rev Dr A.A. Akrong of the Church said Christ sealed his message of salvation with his death on the cross.

He said the message of Christ was that those who were on the fringes had been brought into the fold and could now call God - Father and that the gates of heaven had been opened to all who believed in Christ.

Rev Akrong said Christ endured excruciating pain to carry the message of salvation through even though the crowd that had been following him turned hostile and the Disciples became confused. He urged Christians to remain faithful when they were faced with difficulties because God had always been faithful saying that the redemptive suffering of Christ had set those in bondage free. Rev Akrong said Christians should see difficulties as part of God's plan to make them play a role in the redemptive suffering of Christ.
