Barsare Tawiah, 53-year-old farmer at Asiakwa, a community in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region, has committed suicide by hanging.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the deceased left home to harvest some crops on his farm.

Another farmer called Isaac told the family that he caught the deceased red-handed stealing his plantain and demanded GH¢300.

Reports said that the deceased admitted to stealing the plantain and agreed to pay the money to Isaac.

Some few hours later, his neighbours started teasing him in the community.

The information spread quickly throughout the community, and Tawiah travelled to his cocoa farm to commit suicide due to the unbearable shame.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Kibi Government Hospital morgue pending for autopsy.
