Plans to expand Electoral College underway - NDC

The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it has already begun moves to expand the party’s Electoral College.

This revelation comes after calls by former President Rawlings stated that the NDC enlarges its electoral college for electing national, regional, constituency and ward executives, as well as a Presidential Candidate.

Mr. Rawlings on Saturday also called on the leadership of the NDC to immediately embark on internal reforms so as to give powers to its grassroots support base.

But Deputy General Secretary of the party, George Lawson in an interview with XYZ News said plans are far advanced by the party to address Mr. Rawlings’ concerns.

“We have put in place all this, for now we have two committees in place and we are trying the biometric registration…so we listen to him so that we can reform this party of ours,” Mr. Lawson said.

Meanwhile, Pollster Ben Epson has cautioned that the NDC risks registering infiltrators within its rank if it is not cautious with the decision to expand its electoral college.

He told XYZ News that although the decision is important for the future of the party; it must be done more diligently.
