A planned demonstration by kinsmen of dismissed Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST), Alfred Obeng Boateng has forced President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to change the venue for scheduled event as part of his Western Regional tour, MyNewsGH.com has gathered.

Residents of the area MyNewsGH.com learnt were gearing themselves to show their displeasure in the dismissal of Mr Obeng Boateng who they say has been very supportive to their course but was given the sack some days ago.

According to one of the organisers, Bekoe who spoke to MyNewsGH.com via telephone, traditional rulers had impressed upon them not to engage in any violence but allow them to convey their grievances to the President on his arrival at Kogyina which was supposed to be a venue for a sod-cutting ceremony.

“We agreed with them and promised not to do anything bad. We were however disappointed when we visited Bibiani to be told that the event has been moved from Subin Nkwanta to Chirano a development we thinks smacks of betrayal….we have been betrayed by our chiefs”, he disclosed.

According to him, they are pained by Mr Oben Boateng’s dismissal considering how he was good to the young and old and worked towards developing the area wondering what would happen to the rest of them following his sack.

“We are all worried that this thing is happening. If this can happen to Obeng Boateng then we ourselves we are not safe but I know we have some members who will go to the new venue and register our displeasure to the President”, he added.

Meanwhile Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin on Wednesday disclosed noted that the president acknowledged that the Managing Director of BOST and the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority had served the country well in their respective roles but were not towing the line of the vision of the president, hence the need for them to go so that a new crop of people are brought in to work in tandem with the vision of the president.

"The president thinks that they have served the country well in the respective capacities and he thanks them for that. But he feels that they are not operating in accordance with his vision so there is the need for them to go so that a new crop of people will be brought in the continue’’ he said.
