Picketing nurses finally go home

Members of the Coalition of Unemployed Bonded Diploma Nurses have decided to go to their various homes after spending two nights at the Ministry of Health to put pressure on government to effect their financial clearance to enable them get employed.

The midwives, psychiatric and general nurses have been picketing the MoH from Monday, 24 April until today, Wednesday. They said they have remained unemployed since completing their training two years ago.

According to the coalition, their decision to return to their homes follows extensive consultations with the ministry where they have been assured that their concerns would be addressed with the necessary speed it deserves.

“For this reason, the leadership of the coalition have spoken to its members to remain calm and return to their various destinations while the leadership follow up to the ministry for further deliberation,” a statement from the coalition said.

The jobless nurses have given the Ministry up to 5 May to resolve their concerns, failure of which they will march to the presidency to send their grievances to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
