Piaseman Association of USA Donates Piaseman Association of USA Donates

The Piaseman Association of USA has donated a quantity of medical supplies totaling two thousand dollars (USD $2,000.00) to the Piase Health Center in the Bosomtwe District.

The donation was the latest act of the Association’s expression of social responsibility towards citizens of the town.

The President of Piaseman Association of USA, George Adusei-Bonsu (aka Piesie) made the presentation. The items were received by Nana Agyapong Ntra, Kontihene, on behalf of the Chief, Nana Osei Afriyie Gyamera, and the people of Piase. In attendance at the short but colorful ceremony were Ms. Juliana Akunor, Nurse-Midwife and Director, and the Staff Nurses.

Among the donated medical supplies were the critically needed suturing and dressing sets, digital blood pressure apparatus, and equipment for testing blood sugar. Other items included gloves, plasters, gauze, wall clocks, sanitizers, liquid soaps, disinfectant, hospital bed sheets, pillowcases, and several over-the-counter medications.

In his brief remarks, Father Piesie explained that the purpose of the donation was to supplement the recent Governmental efforts to decentralize essential resources to less resourced towns and villages. He appealed to Piase citizens in the diaspora to join in service to their community and aid in the socio-economic development of Piase. He also pledged to support the costs entailed with making clean, fresh water accessible to the Clinic.

Nana Agyapong Ntra expressed his gratitude on behalf of Piase and the Health Center, and gave assurance that the medical supplies would be put to good use for the benefit of the people and the health delivery system at Piase. Additionally, Nana Kontihene promised to purchase a refrigerator for medication storage for the clinic.

In her speech during the presentation of the medical supplies, Ms. Akunor thanked members of Piaseman Association of USA for their kind gesture and acknowledged the immense need of the items donated. She took the opportunity to invite others to help in the development of Piase, even in small ways. She however, lamented the lack of a toilet facility for patients and appealed for help in completing one that has recently been started.
