Vice President, Mr K.B. Amissah-Arthur, on Friday returned to Accra after participating in the inauguration of the New Suez Canal in Egypt.

Leaders from around the world including France, Gabon, Togo, Benin, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Gulf States, along with a high profile European delegation were also in attendance.

The Suez Canal is an important maritime route and the newly inaugurated canal is expected to significantly cut the travel time of vessels to Europe and Africa.
