The Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), Dr Toni Aubynn, has reiterated that the Petroleum Hub project is designed to position Ghana as an energy security corridor.
According to him, the full operationalisation of the hub will attract significant investment and create jobs for the country’s growing youth population.
Speaking at an engagement with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Dr Aubynn explained that the primary objective of the meeting was to deepen CSOs’ understanding and appreciation of the Petroleum Hub project’s strategic role in strengthening Ghana’s energy security, generating sustainable employment, and advancing the nation’s industrialisation agenda.
“The Petroleum Hub is one of the most ambitious industrial undertakings in Ghana’s recent history. At its core is a design to position this country as an energy security corridor, achieve petroleum price stability for citizens, and deliver key infrastructure such as refineries, storage tanks, petrochemical plants, and port facilities at Jomoro,” he said.
He added that, “But ambition alone is not enough. The real question is: how do we build a Petroleum Hub that is economically viable, socially inclusive, environmentally sustainable, and beneficial to us and future generations? That is where you, the CSOs, come in.”

The Petroleum Hub project is envisioned as a transformative industrial complex that will anchor Ghana’s energy future.
The hub will have refineries, petrochemical plants, jetties, pipelines, storage facilities, and modern port infrastructure.
Its success, however, depends on strong collaboration between government, investors, and civil society to ensure that the project is not only economically viable but also socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable, delivering lasting benefits for generations to come.
