Peter Mac Manu introduces Director of Keta Ports to traditional heads of the area

The Board of Directors, led by Peter Mac Manu has introduced the Director of Keta Port, Alexander Adusei to the Administrative and traditional heads of the Keta area.

He was first introduced to the Municipal Chief Executive under the auspices of the regional minister.

The entourage from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority also paid courtesy calls on Togbui Acolatse IV, the Dufia of Kedzi, the traditional area for which the Port would be situated and the Awomefia of the Anlo state.

Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Peter Mac-Manu introducing the new Director for Keta Port said Dr. Alexander Adusei, has the expertise to drive the vision of the Keta Port.

“When the President of the country sought from a global perspective, the man he found and appointed for the Director of Keta job was Dr. Alexander Yaw Adusei,” he revealed.

He said the President of the country Nana Akufo Addo, has signed an executive instrument to demarcate the area as a port describing it as a major achievement.

The Director of Keta Port Dr. Alexander Adusei said the Keta port is a demonstration of the Government of Ghana’s commitment to develop the Keta municipal area which would directly grow Ghana’s economy.

“The Keta project is not just a port but also a port city that is anticipated to help us develop the whole of Volta region and its environs,” the Director of Keta Port revealed.

He asked for cooperation from the Administrative and traditional heads of the Keta area to make the Keta project a success.

The Director General of GPHA, Michael Luguje revealed that the Port Authority is at the stage where feasibility studies would be conducted to weigh in the potential the market has on offer for the Keta Port.

He has also revealed that 19 international companies have expressed interest in the development of the Port and they are being assessed thoroughly to prune them to a workable number where one would be chosen as the official consultancy to conduct feasibility studies by October 2019.

The Awomefia of the Anlo state, Togbui Sri III said although project has been on the drawing board for some years now, he has faith in the current government for the successful execution of the port project.

“I’m of firm opinion that what the current government has said would be carried into execution,” Togbui Sri III said.

He said the Port facility would elevate the socio-economic life of his territory and thanked government for this laudable vision.

At the project site, the Project Engineer of GPHA, Komla Ofori, run the delegation from Keta through the engineering plans for the Port.
