Goaso (B/A) June 9, GNA - The people of Pepomu, near Sankore in the Asunafo South District have warned political parties not to extend their activities to the area and threatened to refuse to pay taxes. They said their action followed the government's refusal to initiate and complete development projects in the area.
Mr. Kwaku Duah, chairman of the unit committee in the area, told the Ghana News Agency that Pepomu electoral area had 15 communities with a population of about 700 who are mostly farmers. He said last year cocoa farms in some of the communities were not sprayed during the cocoa mass spraying exercise whilst the nine-kilometre road linking the area to Sankore was in a deplorable condition.
Commercial drivers who ply it have withdrawn their services and this has made it impossible for the people to convey their produce to the marketing centres, Mr. Duah said. He said the situation was hampering economic activities in the area. Mr Duah said there was no health centre in the area and the people sometimes carried the sick to Sankore.
