Paul Ansah presents sets of Coronavirus prevention items to Asuogyaman communities

All communities and heads of various groups in the Asuogyaman constituency of the Eastern Region have received 200 covid-19 prevention items from the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the area, Mr. Paul Asare Ansah.

The items costing more than GHC 37,000 and comprising of 200 veronica buckets with stands, buckets, liquid soaps and rolls of tissues, were presented to head of various groups at a colourful ceremony at Mr. Ansah’s residence at Aboasa.

The group heads including Akosombo Traders Association, Vegetable Sellers Association, Bread Sellers Association, Abolo Sellers Association, One Mouth Sellers Association, Drivers Union, Drivers’ Mates, and the Opinion Leaders.

Explaining the rationale behind the presentation, the former Director at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority who underscored the threat posed by the outbreak underscored the need for the general public to stay healthy during and after the outbreak.

The technical advisor to the Ministry of Transport cautioned the general public not to propagate unconfirmed and false stories about the pandemic but rather, rely only on official information from recognized state institutions.

He also advised against politicizing the pandemic as the disease knows no party colours, but rather fight it collectively.

The fight against the virus, the parliamentary candidate asserted, should not be left for government alone as he called for sustained support from chiefs, Members of Parliament, assembly members, and others in positions of leadership for government’s fight against the deadly Coronavirus.

“The problem is enormous for the government alone to confront,” said the aspiring legislator.

“We therefore require all able hands on board to arrest the situation.”

Mr. Ansah called on the people to support his parliamentary bid as occupying the position will enable him access enough resources to develop Asuogyaman.

Mr. Ansah as part of his sensitization tour and distribution of the items paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and people of Aboasa where he presented two sets of the Coronavirus prevention items to the chief of Aaboasa, Nana Obuopong IV.

Receiving the items on behalf of his people, Nana Obuopong IV who is also the Akwamu Akyeamepanyin thanked the NPP parliamentary candidate and pledged to lead the crusade against the convid-19.

He said the people were committed to ensuring the directives of the president on mass gatherings resulting in the ban on all funeral activities in the Aboasa community.

He however called for more education from stakeholders on the outbreak to enlighten the people on the situation and called for more of the items to be distributed to his people.

Nana Obuopong IV also urged the people to be conscious about the disease and adhere to the preventive measures announced by government for their safety.

A member of the party’s Communication team in the Asuogyaman constituency, madam Mercy Amu Darko who joined Mr. Paul Asare Ansah to present the items identified women as playing a big and active role in the socio-economic activities of the country and said as part of the efforts to prevent the outbreak of the covid-19 in the communities, a lot of women’s groups in the
constituency have been educated by community health nurses on hygienic and sanitary practices to keep themselves safe.

Madam Darko said that was not the end as the team would follow up with visits to the various groups to ensure that they comply with the education.

Leaders of the groups who received the items expressed their profound gratitude to Mr. Ansah for his act of benevolence and said the items would go a long way to protect them against the global pandemic.

Queenmother of the market women association, Madam Agnes Mercy Caar was grateful for the gesture and called on all to support the activities of the aspiring Member of Parliament.
