Pastor urges Ghanaians to love children

Pastor Fred Tiakor, Director of the Children’s Ministry of the Church of Pentecost on Sunday urged Ghanaians to develop loving and caring hearts for children, in order to help them grow into useful adults.

He said: “Among the vulnerable in society, children are the most vulnerable and they need our support so that they can have good standing in society”.

Pastor Tiakor gave the advice in Accra during a fundraising dinner of the Kinder Foundation, a Christian non-governmental organization, which provides professional counseling services to help children go through life safely and successfully.

He said the spate of armed robberies and other forms of social vices bedeviling the society today was due to the inability of parents, guardians and society as a whole, to nurture the perpetrators well during their childhood.

He condemned the practices of female genital mutilation and killing of disabled children by the parents, all in the name of culture.

Pastor Tiakor also bemoaned the practices whereby children were sold into slavery by their parents, and called on society to do more to help children to avoid engaging in child labour or to scavenge on refuse dumps before they will eat.

He lauded the Kinder Foundation for seeking to promote the welfare of children and urged them to remain focused, adding that, with the help of God they would make.

Mr Ebenezer Kpalam, President and Founder of Kinder Foundation, appealed to individuals and benevolent organizations to help the Organization fulfill its vision of promoting “healing community” where children and adults maintain healthy relationships.
