Pastor calls on Christian Community to help fight coronavirus

Reverend Dominic Ziba, the Head Pastor of the Holy Ghost Temple of the Assemblies of God (AG) Church on Monday said it was critical for the Church to assist the government in the fight against the COVID-19 disease.

He said much as the Christian Community believed in God, they equally “believe in assisting human life at all times but especially at critical moments such as this because the government and individuals cannot do it all, the Church ought to come in to show that we are concerned.”

Rev. Ziba said this when he presented non-medical items to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga, to support the Region’s fight against COVID-19.

The items included 15 gallons of liquid soap, 10 Veronica Buckets and 300 pieces of alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

Even though the Region has not recorded any case of COVID-19, the facility has received donations from religious organizations to beef up its preparedness against the virus.

Speaking to the media after presenting the items, Reverend Ziba said it was the desire of the Church to see members of the public overcome COVID-19, live healthy lives, and stay strong to worship God.

Dr Samuel Aborah, the Acting Medical Director of the hospital who received the items, thanked the leadership of the church for their support to the facility to fight the pandemic.

He said the hospital had insufficient Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) for health care providers and appealed to other organizations to support the hospital in that regard.
