Pastor attempts to rape married woman

Sunyani Feb. 9 GNA- The Sunyani Magistrate court has remanded Joseph Boakye, a 42-year-old pastor of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, for allegedly inserting his fingers into the private part of a married woman at Atronie, near Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge of indecent assault and will re-appear before the court on February 20, this year. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kwaku Amoako told the court presided by Mr. Albert Zoogah that Madam Abena Gyamfuah, a 28-year-old farmer resident at Atronie had for some time been sick and all efforts by family members to get her healed proved futile.

He said Madam Gyamfuah's sister, who is a member of the Church, sent her to the pastor, who demanded perfume, coconut, lime, salt, a bucket of river water and 20,000 cedis to be used for her cure. ASP Amoako said the Madam Gyamfuah provided all the items but the pastor asked her to return after two days for the healing process to commence.

He told the court that on October 11, last year, when Madam Gyamfuah returned to the pastor at the Church, he entered a bathroom with a bucket of water and invited the woman for a bath. ASP Amoako said the suspect asked the woman to strip herself naked and squat for him to wash her genital during which he inserted his fingers into her and attempted to rape her.

The prosecutor said the woman resisted and shouted for help and this attracted people to the bathroom.
