Parliamentarians concern about Sagnarigu conflict

Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Minority Leader on Friday said State Security Agencies should be more proactive in the management of the raging conflict in the Sagnarigu District in the Northern Region.

He urged chiefs to move towards lasting peace in the area.

Mr Osei Bonsu was contributing to a statement read by Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu on the floor of the House on the clash between the people of Yilonaayili and Kulmanga in the District.

Alhaji Fuseini said one person has loss his life while a number of people have sustained various degrees of injury.

He said the intervention of the security personnel was timely to create a buffer among the warring factions.

Alhaji Fuseini expressed concern about the conflict and called on the people to exercise maximum restraint.

He said the chiefs and opinion leaders are doing their best to calm down nerves and finding a lasting solution to the problem.

Alhaji Fuseini asked the people to confront the common problems of poverty and underdevelopment that afflict them and play down conflicts.

Dr Benjamin Kunbuor, Majority Leader and Minister for Government Business commended the security agencies for being up to the task and called on them to keep their eyes on the ground.
