The Parliament of Ghana on Thursday, 20 October paid glowing tribute to the late Dr. Mrs. Mary Grant.

Before commencement of proceedings regarding the business of the house, a minute’s silence was observed by the legislators.

Several MPs took turns to eulogise her for her immense contribution to girl-child education and most importantly to the state.

Some legislators lauded her ability as a unifier who did not mind interacting or doing business with political rivals.

Dr Mrs Mary Grant died on Sunday September 18, 2016 at the 37 Military Hospital.

Mr Mahama wrote on Facebook on Monday September 19 that the former Council of State member was a “great woman of our modern era”.

Ghana’s former President, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, had also described the late Dr Mrs Mary Grant as a “formidable woman who never turned away from hard work”.
