Parents advised to send their wards to vocational schools

Winneba (C/R), March 25, GNA- The Assemblyman for Awutu-Bereku, Mr. Moses Ahenful-Acquah has called on parents and guardians to send their wards who did not gain admission to secondary schools to vocational institution to acquire employable skills. Mr Ahenful-Acquah made the call at the graduation ceremony of 35 students who have undergone 18 months training in catering, and batik tie and dye at Kasoa on Saturday. He said "every child has his or her God given talent and pointed that if a child is not academically good, it does not mean he or she is useless".

The Assemblyman appealed to parents to use the money spent on expensive funerals and unnecessary litigations to cater for their children to acquire skills at vocational institutions.

The Proprietor of the institute, Mrs Mildled Kassar appealed for assistance from NGOs to expand facilities at the school. Miss Faustina Andah, a guardian urged girls not to be interested in gifts from men since such gifts could lead them to situation which could undermine their training. Miss Andah urged parents to try as much as possible to provide their children with basic needs.
