Palgrave Boakye-Danquah named National Coordinator of OAK movement

A former Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration, Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has been appointed as the National Coordinator for the OAK (Ohene Agyapong Kennedy) movement.

OAK movement is a grassroots campaign network supporting the presidential ambition of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central.

OAK, an acronym drawn from Agyapong’s name and symbolised by the strength and resilience of the oak tree, is described as a supporter-led political action group.

In a press release dated September 29, 2025, the movement seeks to build momentum ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) January 2026 flagbearer primaries.

The initiative is distinct from the official campaign machinery and focuses on mobilising grassroots delegates, youth, and ordinary Ghanaians around Agyapong’s ‘PHD’ doctrine — Patriotism, Honesty and Discipline.

Dr Boakye-Danquah, a long-time NPP strategist, has been a vocal supporter of Agyapong’s presidential bid.

He has described the former legislator as the right person needed to unify the party and lead Ghana’s economic transformation, citing his grassroots appeal and parliamentary experience.

“OAK is about shifting from fiery talk to focused action, emphasising Agyapong’s entrepreneurial record in agriculture, media, real estate and job creation,” Dr Boakye-Danquah said.

The movement has also announced additional appointments to strengthen its operations across the country.

Dr John Kinyorbaan Gabulja has been named National Organiser, Lawrence Tinforce Amenuku, will serve as Communications Director for the Coastal Belt, Richmond Arthur-Baidoo as Communications Director for the Middle Belt, and Emmanuel Adjei Domson as Communications Director for the Northern Belt.

Other appointees include Williams Kofi Toku as Director of Marketing and Advertising, Yaa Ansah Safori as National Women’s Organiser, Tweneboah Kwasi Afriyie as Operations Director for the Middle Belt, Charles Mustapha Arhin Abass as Operations Director for the Northern Belt, Dr Francis Kwaku Antwi as Coordinator for Professional Groupings, and Dr Michael Adusei Nsowah as Deputy Coordinator for Professional Groupings.

The OAK movement draws inspiration from Isaiah 61:3, where believers are described as ‘oaks of righteousness’, symbolising strength and endurance.

Supporters say this imagery captures Agyapong’s resilience and dedication to the NPP grassroots and the Ghanaian people.

The leaders of OAK believe the movement will play a decisive role in securing Agyapong’s path to the NPP flagbearership and ultimately the presidency in 2028.
