Painter jailed 10 years for defilement

Accra, Aug. 9, GNA - A 33-year-old painter, Isaac Aidoo was on Monday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour by an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a 15-year-old girl.

Aidoo pleaded not guilty but the court presided over by Mrs Georgina Mensah-Datsa found him guilty at the end of the trial.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector I.A.A. Ahor told the court that the victim lived with her parents at Accra New Town.

Aidoo has been visiting his master who resides in the same house with the victim.

According to prosecution, Aidoo came to the house anytime his master called him on phone.

Prosecution said Aidoo had been defiling the victim until March 2009, when a witness in the case saw the victim and Aidoo emanating from the toilet.

When the victim was quizzed by witness, she disclosed that Aidoo had defiled her on the toilet adding Aidoo had defiled her on six occasions in her parents' room and the toilet.

Prosecution said witness informed the victim's parents who in turn lodged complainant with the Police and Aidoo was arrested while a medical form was issued to the victim for examination.

Aidoo, however, denied the charge, but the medical report revealed that victim had been defiled through the vagina and anus.
