A medical doctor and orthopaedic surgeon at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, has been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the facility, following the dismissal of the former CEO.

According to a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama, and dated April 30, 2025, the appointment took immediate effect on the day of nomination.

The statement further directed the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to initiate the necessary procedures to formalise Dr Baidoo’s appointment, in accordance with the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525).

“The President of the Republic has nominated Paa Kwesi Baidoo, MD, for appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, effective 30th April, 2025. Attached is his curriculum vitae,” the statement said.

It added, “Kindly take the necessary steps to regularise the said appointment in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act 1996 (Act 525) as amended and accept the President's best wishes.”

Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo currently works at KATH and attends to both orthopedic and trauma cases at the Department of Surgery.

Dr Baidoo's appointment follows the dismissal of Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah as CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, a decision taken by the Minister of Health.
