PWD to venture into economic and business initiatives

The Offinso Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has supported 125 persons with disability to venture in economic and business initiatives.

Beneficiaries have up to thousands Ghana cedis worth of equipment and tools to start productive activities for improved income.

The distribution of the items rather than usual cash is to help persons living with disability to become self-reliant.

The items cost about 120, 000 cedis for the first batch of the beneficiaries.

About 40, 000 cedis was also given to some physically challenged persons to assist them in their education and medical bills.

Municipal Chief Executive, Solomon Kesseh, said it took a lot of public education to concretize the scheme.

He appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the items and pray for the governing New Patriotic Party to be able to deliver more of its promises.

Beneficiaries were advised to develop good maintenance culture for the items and make sure they are in functioning properly.

Remarks were made on those who might have intentions to sell the items to desist from such acts.

For him government was on point when its increased the percentage for the physically challenged from 2% to 3% from the common found.

Before the latest intervention, persons with disability who had established themselves were given cash for expansion.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed excitements after receiving items which include generators, sewing machines, fridges, poly tanks among others. For them, it is time to change their lives and demonstrate to the world that, they are capable of contributing towards better Ghana.
