PTAs commended for complementing government efforts

Nkoranza (B/A) June 23, GNA- Mrs Akua Akubour Debrah, Brong Ahafo Regional Director of Education, has commended Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) of second cycle institutions in the region for effectively complementing the efforts of the Government towards the development of schools.

She praised the associations for maintaining and constructing school infrastructure purchasing vehicles for schools to facilitate teaching and learning adding, "Such efforts cannot be over emphasized as the Government alone cannot shoulder all such responsibilities". Mrs Debrah was addressing members of the PTA of Nkoranza Secondary Technical School at Nkoranza on Thursday.

Mr Augustine Osei-Fosu, PTA Chairman, said the association had provided 100 double beds to the school and also renovated the bungalows of the Senior House Master and the Senior Accountant and planted cashew for the School.

He commended the Nkoranza District Assembly for helping to stop private developers from encroaching the school lands. Mr Adjei Yeboah, Presiding Member of Nkoranza District Assembly, called on parents to enrol their children in school and announced that the Government would provide the school with a dinning hall.

Mr Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, District Director of Education, called on parents to monitor the movements of their children to prevent them from joining bad peer groups. The Headmaster of the School, Mr Kwaku Adjei, appealed to the District Assembly to assist the school build an administrative block and a library and renovate the school's dormitory blocks that are in deplorable conditions.
