PROF BEKOE WANTS NEW ROLE FOR LIBRARIANS

African librarians and information experts have been urged to review their roles to make them more involved in the organization and dissemination of information required by scientists and scholars of the sciences. Professor D. Adjei Bekoe, President of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, said in order to enhance information delivery in Africa, the role of the African librarian should shift significantly from the "traditional custodial" posture to an interventionist one.
