PRINPAG swears-in new board members

The Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) on Tuesday sworn into office its new board and executive members to ensure that, the Association continues to grow to contribute its quota to national development.

Mr. Yaw Buadu-Ayeboafoh, Chairman of the National Media Commission, swearing in new board and executives members, the pioneers, whose vision eventually saw the birth of this Association, championed the fight against culture of silence and the various forms of oppression and injustice going on in the Ghanaian society at the time.

He said PRINPAG and its leadership as well the entire membership were at the Forefront of the fight, which eventually saw the birth of the fourth republic we are enjoying today.

He urged the newly sworn in executives to continue with the good works of their pioneers and asked them to put PRINPAG back on the radar, where it rightfully belonged to redeem its status as a strong force to reckon with in the country.

Mr. Andrew Edwin Arthur, the President of PRINPAG, said, the private newspaper industry was as relevant today just as it was in the past years and as newly elected executives, their duty was to help inject vibrancy to the industry to enable private newspapers in this country to become a formidable force to reckon.

He also urged members of the board not to sit on the fence but also avail themselves for discussions to build the association and also support the need to deepen democracy and good governance, which will demand accountability from their leaders.

The elected executive were Mr Andrews Edwin Arthur, new President, Mr. David Tamakloe Vice President, Kenteman Nii- Laryea Sowah, Executive Secretary, Mr Douglas Wede, as the Treasurer, Mr. Opare Gyan, Organising Secretary, Mr. Elorm Desewou as the elected Assistant Secretary. Were sworn- in as executive committee.

Membership of the Executive board sworn-in were, Mr. Kwame Obeng-Fosu(CHAIRMAN), Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere (member), Ambassador Abdul-Rahman Haruna Attah (member), Mr Kwesi Pratt Junior (former President of PRINPAG 1994-1997/member), Mr Kwaku Baako Junior (former Vice President of PRINPAG 1997-1999/Member), Mr Benedict Asorow, Mr. Ebo Quansah, Mr. Edwin Arthur, Mrs. Christiana Ansah, Ms. Edith Darkwa, Nii-Laryea Sowah (Member/secretary).
