PNC members file suit against Mahama

Accra, June 7, GNA - Three members of the People's National Convention (PNC) have filed a suit against Dr Edward Mahama, former presidential candidate of the party, seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining him from contesting any presidential vote on the party's ticket having contested for three consecutive times.

The writ issued by Mr John Ndebugre, an executive member of the party who has strained relations with Dr Mahama for a long time, is also seeking a declaration that Dr Mahama is not the leader of the PNC. The writ was filed by Mr E.A. Halm-Quartey, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Party, Mr Ahmed Agadi, and Mr Joseph Kwabena Edu, members of the National Standing Committee.

The three in their statement of claim are also seeking a perpetual injunction restraining Dr Mahama from holding himself out as the leader of the PNC and operating its bank accounts by being a signatory. It said since losing the 2004 election, Dr Mahama had continued to operate the bank accounts as a signatory.
