Tongo, (UE), Sept. 15, GNA - The People's National Convention (PNC) party has endorsed a 37 year old lecturer of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Dr Michael Wombeogo as its parliamentary candidate to contest the Talensi seat in the Upper East Region. This was contained in a statement signed by the Regional Secretary of the Party, Mr Henry Fatchu and issued in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. It stated that the 37 year-old lecturer who was elected by popular acclamation by the 87 delegates of the party thanked them for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to advocate for development of the area when voted into power. The election was conducted by the Talensi-Nabdam District Electoral Officer, Mr Michael Owusu and supervised by the regional executives of the Party. The statement said the PNC would revive the good policies of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the leader and founder of the party, by giving top priority to education to improve upon the falling standards of education in the country. It regretted that Ghana's educational standard which was one of the best in Africa had retrogressed. It said this would be reversed if the party wins the 2008 election and appealed to the electorate to give the party the mandate.
