Today on The Big Issue, discussions will be centred on some stories that made headlines within the week. These include premiering of the Anas exposé dubbed Number 12, the resignation of the President of Ghana Football Association, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, as well as the termination of appointments of four CEOs.

On Wednesday 6th, June 2018, Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas premiered his latest exposé “Number 12” which revealed how some FA officials were captured taking bribes in a secret filming. But the peak of the video was the President of the GFA, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, allegedly engaging in some fraudulent activity and also mentioning the name of the President and Vice-president in his dealings with some supposed investors.

In the secret filming, Mr Nyantakyi was seen collecting an amount of $65,000 into a rubber bag which was given to him by the supposed investor.

After the release of the video, President Akufo-Addo called for steps to be taken to dissolve the Ghana Football Association.

However, on Friday 8th June 2018, Mr Nyantakyi tendered in his resignation as the President of the Ghana Football Association.

Mr Nyantakyi is known to have been the President of the GFA for about 13 years and doubles as the Vice President of CAF and a board member for the WAFU.

Following the incident, FIFA banned Mr Nyantakyi for a period of 90 days.

Meanwhile, in other news, Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, announced the termination of appointments of the Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Felix Kwaku Anyah, Paul Asare Ansah, Director General of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority; Gifty Klenam, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Export Promotion Authority and Alfred Obeng Boateng, the Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company.

A letter communicating the termination of the appointments noted that the action is part of efforts by the President to restructure the public sector.
