President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama arrived in China on October 11, 2025, for a meeting with President Xi Jinping.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who was part of the delegation, the Chinese President extended the invitation as part of activities marking 65 years of formal Ghana-China bilateral relations.
The minister noted that the meeting is expected to further strengthen Ghana-China ties, with several key agreements and high-level engagements scheduled in the coming days.

As Ghana commemorates 65 years of diplomatic relations with China, and 30 years since the Beijing Gender Summit, the focus remains on building a future of shared prosperity, eliminating discrimination, and advancing the Global South.
The Ghanaian delegation was warmly received by Chinese government officials, with First Lady Lordina Mahama presenting a bouquet of flowers to one of the foreign officials.
