The Center for Pharmaceutical Advancement and Training (CePAT) has outdoored the CePAT Expansion Inauguration at their head office in Accra.

The Expansion inauguration is to celebrate the success of the Center, since its inception and showcase its additional testing capabilities added to meet the quality assurance demands in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Center has tremendously contributed to developing a cadre of professionals for the pharmaceutical industry and national drug regulatory authorities (about 190 professionals from 32 African countries).

Offered under USP’s Global Health Impact Programs, CePAT serves as an integrated platform of training, consulting, testing and capacity building to support pharmaceutical quality assurance systems in a sustainable way in Sub-Saharan Africa.

A state of the art microbiology unit will now afford the center the opportunity to conduct microbiology testing to ascertain whether sterile products and non-sterile liquid medicines are free from microbial contamination.

The prefabricated and modular microbiology unit is the first of its kind in the sub-region and will serve as a model that other countries and national laboratories can replicate.

Additional capabilities have been added to help pharmaceutical companies in the region to characterize pharmaceutical raw materials and verify authenticity and quality.

The special guest of honour was Hon Alex Segbefia, Minister of Health, who lauded the center for the innovation and expansion and pledged government’s support towards the expansion and health delivery in general.
