PDS scandal: Ghanaians should hail Akufo-Addo’s gov’t – NPP executive

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

An executive of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Michael Saddique Adams has called on well-meaning Ghanaian to apprentice and hail the Akufo-Addo led government on the suspension of the concession agreement with the Power Distribution Services (PDS) rather than bastardizing it.

“President Akufo- Addo and the NPP government need to be praised for their quick action”, the Oforikrom NPP Constituency organizer opined during panel discussion MyNewsGh.com monitored on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s morning show.

According to Michael Saddique Adams, the government could have whitewashed the deal after detecting alleged fraudulent move on the side of PDS.

“Unlike any of the NDC administration, President Akufo-Addo could have covered the matter but we as a government chose to bring it out”, the outspoken Youth Organizer told the host of ‘Kro Yomu Nsem’ political talk show, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin.

Government has suspended its concession agreement with the Power Distribution Services (PDS) bringing back the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in full control.

The Minister of Energy, Peter Amewu, however, fears cancellation of the concession agreement with Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS) could come with some consequential loss.

“We have through deep intelligence detected issues with those guarantees that were provided…they were not valid as a step we have taken measure to secure the assets of the state by suspending the concession agreement”, Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah also explained.

He, therefore, assured the government has taken steps to ensure distribution, billing and payment services continue uninterrupted.
