P.C: Critics of Akufo-Addo’s 2016 bid are not sane

Former Asikuma Odoben Brakwa Legislator, P.C. Appiah Ofori says anyone who opposes the main opposition New Patriotic Party’s twice-defeated presidential candidate’s 2016 bid is “insane”.

Appiah Ofori, who said on Tuesday that he strongly supports Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s third time try at the presidency on the ticket of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) believes “Nana Akufo-Addo will get more sympathy votes in 2016”.

According to him, “Ghanaians want Akufo-Addo”.

“He should come and I will support him and sane people in the party will support him”, P.C. Appiah Ofori told Accra-based Asempa FM’s Eko Sii Sen political programme.

The party’s General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, on Monday told XYZ News Nana Akufo-Addo will vie for the 2016 presidential election.

However, Political Science Lecturer, Kwasi Amakye says the NPP will be risking consignment to opposition for longer than necessary, if the party fields Nana Akufo-Addo for the 2016 polls.

Per his argument, 69-year-old Akufo-old would be 72 in 2016 and therefore cannot function properly as a leader.

P.C. Appiah Ofori, however, says such logic is warped since the facts on the ground are to the contrary.

He borrowed a limb from 90-year-old Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, who has been in power for seven consecutive times in the past three decades.
