One of the people who attacked the premises of Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah's Glorious Word Ministry International on Wednesday has reported himself to the police, YEN.com.gh can report.

The suspect who is assisting in investigations reported to the police following a visit to the crime scene by the Accra Region Police Commander.

A group of Muslim youth stormed Owusu Bempah's church premises over prophecies he made in his church during the 31st watch night service last Monday.

Owusu Bempah had claimed that God had revealed to him that former presidents Kufuor and Mahama and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia could die this year unless they take firm spiritual actions.

He also claimed to have witnessed signs that seem to suggest that the Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, could die in 2019.

He thus urged the Islamic community to pray for their spiritual leader.

Since the video of his prophecy popped up on the internet, Owusu Bempah has come under a lot of bashing from many Muslims who have condemned his wild prophecy.

Believed to be from Nima and other Zongo communities in Accra, this group of youth had wanted to exhibit their anger by physically attacking Owusu Bempah but it turned out that the prophet was not around as there was no church service.

In a video from the scene which was published by YEN.com.gh, the youth, some of whom were wielding machetes could be seen trooping to the church premises of the Owusu Bempah with some vandalising items including a giant signpost in front of the church's wall.

The police have since launched an investigation into the matter and according to the Greater Accra police public relations officer, DSP Afia Tenge they have arrested one suspect.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM, DSP Tenge disclosed that the suspect voluntarily reported himself to the police as one of the irate youth who destroyed properties at Owusu Bempah's church.

As an immediate measure, the police PRO said, personnel have been deployed to the church and residence of Owusu Bempah to avert any attack.

She also appealed for calm as the police investigate and bring the culprits to book.

Meanwhile, Owusu Bempah has broken his silence on the attack calling for prayers for the church.

In a post on his Facebook page, Owusu Bempah, who sounded unperturbed quoted from Matthew 16:18 which says “…I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."

"Let’s pray for the church and let’s be strong as Christians,” he added.
