Founder of the Glorious Word Ministry, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah has made a plea to the Ghana Police Service for the release of some youth who attacked his church last week.

His appeal, he says, is a result some advice from President Akufo-Addo.

Rev. Owusu Bempah made this request when he visited the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, to show his appreciation for the elder’s timely call for the ‘attackers’ to be brought to book.

He said, “this is a religious issue and not a national issue and the president has advised me to show some love by forgiving the young men who have been arrested just as the Chief Imam has shown me love... I am therefore pleading with the IGP and head of CID drop the charges against them”

“We will replace the properties we have lost ourselves,” he added.

The irate youth believed to be from the Moslem community were ostensibly angered by a prophecy by the pastor that the Chief Imam will die this year.

They stormed the South Odorkor branch Rev Owusu Bempah’s church and destroyed several properties.

But after condemning the act, the Chief Imam called for the arrest of four of the youth and asked the Moslem community to forgive the man of God.

According to him, Islam stands for peace: “We are living in peace with fellow Christians and other religion so let’s maintain that relationship. Leave him with his character and forgive him. As for death, every soul shall taste it either today or tomorrow so no need to attack the man. Please leave him and forgive him, I am begging you, I am begging you.”

Rev Owusu Bempah’s visit to the Chief Imam on Thursday was a gesture to smoke the peace pipe.
