Out-going Netherlands Ambassador bids President Mills farwell

Accra, July 20, GNA- Madam Lidi Petronella Remetzwaal, out-going Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, on Tuesday paid a farewell courtesy call on President John Evans Atta Mills, at the Osu Castle in Accra.

Madam Remetzwaal has been called home after a four year duty tour of Ghana.

President Mills said Madam Remetzwaal had been a worthy Ambassador and won the hearts of many Ghanaians, especially those who were in sports.

"You contributed immensely to our development effort, you can go back with the assurance that you've done your very best", President Mills commended the out going Ambassador.

He wished the envoy well in her new assignment, and registered Ghana's appreciation of the Netherlands, pledging that Government would build the ties established during her duty tour.

"Your country is a dependable partner; we'll cherish the close walk that the Netherlands has with us, "President Mills said.

The President on behalf of the Government presented an Assesedwa, a traditional stool, and piece of Kente cloth as memento to the out-going envoy.

Mr. Oko Niikoi Djani, President of the Ghana Hockey Association, expressed appreciation to Madam Remetzwaal for facilitating a tour of the Ghanaian Team, successfully on two occasions to Holland.
