The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has called on House committees to ensure their reports reflect the views and concerns of citizens and key stakeholders.
He further encouraged the committees to publish their findings online to promote transparency and accountability.
According to a 3news.com report on November 10, 2025, Ayariga stressed that effective parliamentary leadership requires active listening and sustained stakeholder engagement during Day Two of the Parliamentary Committees Leadership Development Programme.

"The voices of the people must be seen in our committee reports. Active listening and stakeholder engagement are keys to effective parliamentary leadership," he said.
The programme, which focused on enhancing the capacity of parliamentary committees to strengthen good governance, also highlighted the need to build public trust and enhance the visibility of committee work.
The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor, also addressed participants and urged efforts to correct public misconceptions about the District Assemblies Common Fund.
He noted that the fund does not go into Members of Parliament's personal accounts, as some citizens believe.
"Educating the public on this matter is critical. The Common Fund does not go into the pockets of MPs," he indicated.
Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, encouraged members to take a more active role in committee proceedings, describing effective participation as essential to improving parliamentary performance and boosting public confidence.
In a presentation on the national budget scrutiny process, Coordinating Director of Research and Information, Mohammed Nyagsi Hardi, outlined the stages of Ghana's budget cycle and emphasised the crucial role parliamentary oversight plays in ensuring fiscal discipline.

A representative of the Ministry of Finance, Dr Felix Amankwah-Poku, also delivered a presentation on strengthening public financial management (PFM).
He highlighted how Parliament can enhance value for money in public spending through effective oversight across the entire PFM ecosystem.
The Parliamentary Committees Leadership Development Programme forms part of ongoing efforts to build institutional capacity, improve transparency and ensure that parliamentary work aligns with citizens' needs and expectations.
